Tan and Garcia Pediatrics Response to COVID-19

We would like to assure all of our patients and families that we are continuing to keep up to date with the latest guidelines/recommendations from the CDC, State Department of Health, and local health agencies regarding COVID-19 (2019 novel coronavirus). We remain available for our full scope of services both in the office and by phone. We are taking appropriate precautions and making adjustments to some of our office protocols to help limit the spread of illness as much as possible.

Some of our current measures include:

—Enhancing our office sanitation procedures already in place

—Adjusting our schedule for the time being so that “well visits” are scheduled exclusively in the mornings and “acute/sick visits” are scheduled in the afternoons to help minimize potential in office exposures

—Asking screening questions when scheduling regarding symptoms/exposures of concern with regard to COVID-19 (for both patients and accompanying caregivers) in order to address such concerns most appropriately and mitigate potential exposure to unaffected individuals

—Triaging the care of certain symptoms over the phone as much as possible to help avoid unneeded visits/exposures

—Potentially delaying some non-urgent/non-time-sensitive follow-up appointments

—Investigating the possibility of phone/telehealth visits with our physicians for certain issues that may not require a face-to-face appointment (this is not yet fully functional but we are hoping to get a system in place)

Some of these changes that improve our overall quality of care may continue beyond the COVID-19 risk period while others which constitute a change to our typical practice of medicine will transition back to our usual standard of care as soon as we are safely able to do so. Thank you so much for your ongoing patience and trust as we all work together to navigate these uncertain times. As we have all seen over the past several weeks and days, this is certainly a rapidly evolving public health issue and we will continue to provide updates with any significant changes to our office procedures (here and/or on our Facebook page). We remain ready and available to provide your family with the best care possible!
