Please join us in congratulating Dr. Tan on reaching a very momentous milestone! He will be celebrating his 50 year work anniversary of providing quality care to children and adolescents in the Harrisburg area on October 1, 2026. 

Born and raised in Malaysia, Dr. Tan went to The University of Malaya Medical School, completed his internship at Kuala General Hospital and residency at Institute for Medical Research. He then completed a pathology residency in Pittsfield, MA, completed a pediatric residency at New York Medical College and eventually a Pediatric Infectious Disease fellowship at Montreal Hospital prior to making Camp Hill his home in 1976 and starting a family. 

Dr. Tan joined the late Dr. Procopio at his office in Camp Hill and then in 1977 Dr. Guillermo Garcia rounded out the trio. Dr. Procopio later sold his pediatric practice to Drs. Tan and Garcia, forming Tan & Garcia Pediatrics, which expanded to the East Shore in 1977. 

Dr. Tan has served as Chief of Pediatrics at Harrisburg Hospital and has opened the doors of Tan & Garcia Pediatrics to train residents from both Harrisburg Hospital and Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.

Throughout the years, Tan & Garcia Pediatrics has expanded, shaped, and flexed with the changing times, including Dr. Anne Kernan, Dr. Patricia Seto, Dr. Falguni Acharya, Dr. Kara Garcia, Dr. Kylie Murray, Dr. Steve Heverley, Dr. Edgar Kwee, Katrina McAlester, PA-C, and Mattie Ross, PA-C, building a foundation of quality pediatric care in the Harrisburg and West Shore areas. With all of these changes, Dr. Tan has remained a pillar at Tan & Garcia Pediatrics currently providing care to third generation patients.
